Experience
My tutoring career started while attending college at the Ohio State University. I taught Japanese-language curriculum over summer vacations, covering a large amount of material in a very short time. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese and Linguistics.Following graduation, I travelled to Japan and Korea to teach for English immersion programs. These courses included teaching science, math, and writing to students of all ages and skill levels, from very young children to adults, who understood a varying amount of English. While in Japan, I improved my Japanese language skills enough to pass the highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency test. I currently am located in Ferndale, Michigan, and teach Japanese, reading, writing, grammar and mechanics, American History, science, geography, social studies, English, photography, and art. I teach several levels of most of those subjects and also offer test preparation assistance.I try to make learning new things enjoyable for my students and take an approach that encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning.In my free time, I like to watch movies, practice photography, and just spend time outside.
